So 2009 continues along relatively unimpressively, but I know we are all anxiously awaiting tuesdays celebration. The inauguration always gets me thinking. About the country, where we are headed, how the coming years are going to treat me. This particular inauguration has me thinking about the economy. In partiular about how we are going to climb out of this crisis. Its not going to be by hoarding cash under our mattresses. We have to go out there and spend some money. So this tuesday I am urging everyone to go out and spend. Lets give Barack a running start. Therefore I am choosing as my WoW today an online clothing vendor. One that I happen to enjoy tremendously and was founded by some young americans doing what they wanted to do. Something I know Barack Obama would support. They also have a cool, well designed website currently with a video featuring one of my favorite chefs, Chris Cosentino. Watch him dismantle a pigs head and see if it inspires you to try it like I did. It probably won’t but you may end up buying a fly hoodie or a one of a kind cap. Check it out.
On the american note, here is the President Elect giving us a thumbs up for:

So it would appear I have taken control of Digital Chaos Media for my own. The power is making me crazy…
You know what else makes me crazy? When I get a new videogame and I can’t withstand the impulse to immediately search the internet for hints, tips, tricks, and cheats. Luckily for me, there are no lack of sites that cater to people like me. I am willing to admit that I am a cheater. Not always, but sometimes, and especially when it is necessary (LucasArts, The Dig, crazy color button puzzle, I am looking in your direction…). Sometimes I don’t cheat when others always do (GTAIV, story mode, I don’t see the point, the game is that easy) I am a sucker for a walkthrough (Zak Mcracken and the Alien Mindbenders, Maniac Mansion) but I never cheat when it involves hardware (Halo modders are assholes) So when I am looking for a little info on a game, maybe pre-release, some forum chatter, or just a little thing we call invincibility code, I check out GameFaqs.
For this thumbs up I can’t quite see if he even has any fingers, but I imagine he is giving me the thumbs up for entering the most memorable cheat code of all time.

So there is Bill (or is it Lance) giving it up for Gamefaqs.com!

Alright guys, I know it has been a long time since I posted something here on DCM but 2009 is a new year, and we are going to start it off right. The website of the week is going to become just that, weekly. So every saturday, tune in to find an awesome website to enrich your life with.
So today in my WoW I have decided to simply use a website that I am currently using. It shocks me sometimes when people are completely unaware of a site I find so completely neccessary for a task. Therefore I am going to introduce the unaware to Kayak. Kayak is a travel search website created by the founder of Orbitz, Travelocity, and Expedia. The simplicity of the site matched with its speed and breadth of information makes it my go to site when searching for hotels, cars, flights and vacation deals. Right now I am looking to to go Amsterdam in late winter and Iceland in the summer. Where can Kayak help take you?
For our travel based website we get the thumbs up from a pilot

There are few things that we of the technological age love more than our gadgets. Whether they are meant to make life easier, enhance the world around us, or simply to waste time with, these are the top ten gadgets of all time:
1) Ipod - Apple: Clearly this now ubiquitous music player needs to be on this list. Perhaps no other music player, be it record, 8-track, cassette, CD, or even a live band has allowed access to music the way this little white piece of metal, plastic, and carcinogenic materials has. One could argue that it was marketing that really brought the Ipod to the forefront of society, but really it was that little korean hard drive that set it apart from the Rio (remember that piece of crap). While it may have spawned some pretty ridiculous add-ons, it continues to innovate and impress.
2) Cotton Gin - Eli Whitney: Ok, I know what you are thinking. Its a gadget throught and through though. This thing was never a neccessity, but it sure as hell made the job easier. Imagine what Gizmodo would have had to to say about this bad boy when Eli really got it going. [Read more →]

For all of you avid readers out there, and especially those of you who travel all over the place like your pal Bobby, here’s got a holiday gift recommendation for you or someone you know who can read real good-like. The name of this squeaky new toy is the ‘Kindle’ and it’s a digital book that was introduced by Amazon.com a few months back. Currently it is selling for about $360.00 before tax but in my opinion it’s worth every penny if you are an avid reader/traveler. I just recently got my hands on one of these puppies and for the last week or so it has really blown me away. This device is more than just a digital book with access to over 200,000 titles that can be directly downloaded to your trusty kindle within minutes (costs for books range between 7-20 dollars based on size), you can also subscribe to your favorite newspapers, periodicals, magazines or blogs (not DCM just yet) and they will be updated for you over the course of the day.
A summary of some of the other awesome tricks the Kindle has up its proverbial sleeve after the jump: [Read more →]

Allright everyone out there, get ready, because my Website of the Week is ready to drop a whammy on you. The WoW today is one that we here at DCM use frequently both for personal use and here on the site. Imeem is actually the fourth largest media site on the web behind youtube, google video, and myspace video. While it bills itself as a social networking site devoted to music it functions essentially as a streaming library of TONS of music that you can listen to through your browser. While I can’t vouch for the legality of imeem, I will say that is has done a pretty impressive job of fighting off the lawsuits so far. More power to them.
This week our WoW gets a thumbs up from none other than Rick Astley!

But dont worry, I would never rickroll our loyal readers.
I give you: imeem.com

We here at DCM hope everyone had a wonderful and happy Turkey Day, but remember that today is Black Friday and we encourage you all to go out and find those deals on the big screen TV of your dreams. I can’t help but put my favorite deal out there. I, as most men have, often showed disdain for asking directions. Well when I got my Garmin, said disdain was a thing of the past. These things are amazing and this deal is pretty sweet. Garmin Deal.

So, it took me awhile to figure this new Google image search thing out. Yesterday, and the day before, Google started to upload millions, literally millions, of photos from the Life Magazine archives. A bunch of these photos have gone previously unpublished, and many of them are incredibly awkward for the photographed. Before I discovered that there was a dedicated launching page to the new photos, check out that picture of Mike Jordan post-roach blunt I discovered on the crappy, old Google image search. I’ll tell you what though, you can learn some interesting things from the old guard, and the most important of them is that when you type in Jordan, like Mike, pictures of the ridiculous bimbo Jordan (aka Katie Price)
come up before the man who once held the title of most recognizable name on earth. Another important note, Katie (pictured while pregnant, right) is going to be a fantastic parent. Anyway, what’s so incredibly cool about this focused search engine is the lack of crappy nonsense you usually pick up in an image search on Yahoo! or Google. I mean, type in baseball and BAM! cool picture after cool picture of Mantle and DiMaggio and Mays and etc… Check out some of the photos lingering in the Life archives after the jump:

Coming at the DCM readers once again this monday is the Von Heezy WoW. That is not World of Warcraft. That is for losers serious gamers, no it is losers. Its my Website of the Week! Today I am bringing you one of my favorite sites for online gaming. Some people like to play those flash games on sites like Armor Games which I can understand. They are quick, easy to learn, and can take up precious working time. Others prefer to play endless games of Scrabulous (or whatever they call it now) on Facebook. I however am an afficionado of the classics. I used to use emulators to play old NES, SNES, Genesis, and yes Turbo Grafix 16 games on the computer but this website makes it a little easier. Though they can often be glitchy, and you now have to register to access them, I think this site provides all of us with the games we always want to play. So if you are a Paper Boy Powerhouse, a Ninja Gaiden Guru, or a Bonk’s Adventure…well if you like Bonk’s Adventure then check out my WoW. Its Dr.Mario Approved. *

I give you: Every Video Game
*Actual viewpoints of Dr.Mario may differ from those put forth on this website.

So I came across this website today, not all that surprising considering I am constantly searching for the best and brightest for posts here at Digital Chaos Media, called www.top10series.com. Now this website could be any number of listing sites. You could be thinking “Does it list the top 10 hottest models?”, or maybe “I bet it lists the top 10 restaurants in New York, I mean, come on, this IS Von Heezy.” The answer however is not either of those, but rather my other favorite pastime. Halo of course! The newest ranks the top 10 splatters in Halo 3 according to Vigga their website. A splatter, for n00bs our non-halo 3 playing readers, is when you run someone over with a vehicle in the game, but sometimes the hilarious non-driven object can splatter you as well. We here at DCM are avid Halo 3 in-game drivers, so I take special pleasure in presenting after the break: Top 10 Halo 3 Splatters: Episode 12
P.S. Please come back soon to read about the New XBOX Live Experience (NXE) which yours truly, Von Heezy, has been afforded a special preview.
